Job Elements: -
• Develop and implement specific sourcing strategies across the range of indirect materials and services.
• Collate data/spend information on all purchasing activity within the designated area of responsibility.
• Ensure effective sourcing strategy development and cost reduction performance.
• Research and review of the supply markets for the designated service/commodity areas.
• Identify opportunities to improve supplier performance
• Take a lead role in negotiating and structuring legally binding contracts/agreements in line with conditions of purchase.
• Liaise with the relevant functional areas to ensure service levels and supplier performance are in line with customer expectations.
• Resolve any key issues in terms of supplier performance, critical shortages or response times.
• Maintain an appropriate cost tracking system covering actual cost reduction improvements.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Ideally educated to diploma/first degree level in either a commercial, engineering or technical discipline.
• Ideally 3-5 years in a strategic purchasing role, preferably within the automotive sector.
• Experience of commercial negotiation capability at senior management level.
• European/international exposure in a commercial/technical role within a manufacturing organisation would be a distinct advantage.
• To have, or be in the process of acquiring, a post graduate/professional purchasing qualification.
• Knowledge of Contract law and European legislation.
• European language would be an advantage.
