    Job Elements: -

    • To manage and administer a highly specialised engineering team to support the manufacturing teams.
    • Ensure resources and systems are developed to provide continuity and performance in support of the strategic improvement in asset O.E.E. and output growth, whilst ensuring department budgets are controlled and value for money is achieved.
    • Develop subordinates to enable individuals to deliver their full potential and maximize their performance.
    • The Senior Mechanical Engineer has responsibility for providing a professional engineering service to the Site and Manufacturing Departments, ensuring that Company activities fully comply with statutory regulatory bodies, such as the Health & Safety Executive, Environment Agency and Factory Insurers.
    • The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the Site’s Engineering Standards are maintained and updated, providing an advisory service for Maintenance and Capital Expenditure Projects.
    • Advise the Site Engineering Manager on all matters relating to statutory requirements and legislation, keeping abreast of current and future developments.
    • Achieve the planned O.E.E. for major machine centres. Meet planned annual Site shipments.
    • The incumbent will be responsible for leading and developing a multi-disciplined team of technicians and engineers, including Services, Building, planning and condition monitoring.

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • The jobholder must be familiar with modern production processes and operations relating to Metal Processing Technology and/or Heavy Manufacturing.
    • They must be an experienced and competent engineer, educated ideally to degree level (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
    • Good communication skills are a pre-requisite,
    • They must be pro-active and comfortable with designing and implementing change, both in terms of equipment processes and people / organization.
    • Strong man management skills with a proven track record of leading teams at all levels.
    • Proven strong project management skill are required.
