Education & Qualifications
Professional qualification in Social Work.
Registered with Care Council.
Experience
Knowledge of direct work with children.
Knowledge of the legislation relevant to Child and Family Services.
Knowledge of investigation and assessment in Child Protection work.
Knowledge of therapeutic intervention in:
Parenting skills
Children and their behaviour
Parental attitudes to discipline and child management
Issues concerning specific aspects of the abuse of children.
Skills & Abilities
A level of communication and analytical skills in liaison, negotiation, information, presentation and
personnel at all levels, both verbally and written.
The ability to organise information and write succinct reports.
A strong personal commitment to the aims, philosophy and values of the Social Services Department.
The ability to work on your own initiative and manage your time effectively.
The ability to work under pressure and to be resilient.
Skills in organising, co-ordinating and managing work in a multi agency context.
The ability to work flexibly, creatively and imaginatively within the constraints of the resources available to you.
A commitment to the supervisory process for work management and personal development.
The ability to understand and manage conflict.
Personal integrity of a high order (this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act).
Ability to work as a team member.
A qualified driver with the use of a vehicle for work is an essential asset
