MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

Our client, a large employer based in Merthyr, are currently recruiting for an experienced Engineer for the co-ordination of corrective and preventative maintenance of plant machinery and their associated services.

Main responsibilities;

- To carry out and record corrective maintenance on plant machinery and services quickly and efficiently so as to cause the least amount of machinery downtime.
- To carry out and record planned maintenance on plant machinery and services as scheduled by the Engineering Department.
- To ensure good communication with other Engineering Shifts and Production Supervisors of past and present breakdowns / malfunctions
- Inform the Engineering Supervisor or Manager of any production downtime that exceeds 10 minutes
- To ensure fault logs are kept up to date and any outstanding faults are handed over to the next shift.
- To ensure production are made aware when work has been completed on any machinery / services.
- To ensure all machinery and services are in working order and ready for production after maintenance periods.
- To be available / contactable outside of normal working hours if a major malfunction / breakdown occurs that may require specific skills to resolve.

Required skills / experience / qualifications;

- Apprentice served Mechanical / Electrical Engineer qualified to ONC standard or with equivalent experience
- Ideally a minimum of 2 years post apprenticeship experience or equivalent within a factory-engineering environment with a proven track record
- A sound technical background with the ability to manage tasks using a lateral, methodical approach, matched by a demonstrable flair for faultfinding and rectification

The salary is up to £21000 (depending on skills and experience) and there is a 12.5% shift allowance.
