Job Description

  • Provide change leadership and technical leadership for the implementation of automation projects; ensuring that projects are delivered to agreed quality, cost and specification
  • Subject Matter Expert for all control system aspects of specification and design
  • Provide technical leadership, ownership and hands-on proficiency in the resolution of software and controls systems issues
  • Display an acute understanding of the interaction between the software application modules and other software and hardware packages
  • Ability to interrogate and have understanding of the PLC application modules
  • Accurately identify root cause of system faults and be able to confidently lead and deliver a robust & timely resolution
  • Review, evaluate, leverage and adapt new technologies for the benefit of the business
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives, benchmarks and collaboration opportunities internal and external
  • Work with the site IT group to ensure IT processes, policies and best practices are followed in all projects and maintenance actions

The ideal candidate will have:

  • You will have a formal Engineering qualification to HNC or above and at least 5 years experience of working with complex control systems for manufacturing equipment.
  • Degree (preferred) in Electronics, Control Engineering or Software systems and hold/working towards a professional qualification or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years practical automation experience within Capital Equipment build / performance improvement applications environment.
  • Sound understanding of software structures, standards and Codes
  • Automation Software
  • Documentation / Technical report writing skills
  • Structured Project Management capabilities
  • Current PLC programs/Automation
  • SCADA knowledge
  • Numerical control systems
