Job Description
- Major involvement with the design and development of new products, in respect of both possible adaptations of current products and of “zero based” concept design
- Technical support for global sales team in order to provide customers with optimised products specific to their requirements.
- Assistance with Project Management of new product introduction process, incorporating FMEA and PPAP techniques as appropriate
- Customer liaison to provide both technical guidance in respect of existing products and to assist in determining ongoing and / or future requirements
- Supplier development in liaison with both the Strategic Sourcing function and the Quality department
- Supporting cost down initiatives including participation in Lean manufacturing / Kaizen events
- Worldwide travel as required to support global sales and product development initiatives and / or to provide assistance to Applications Engineer(s)
The ideal candidate will have:
- Degree in mechanical engineering or associated discipline (Note: where appropriate, the successful applicant will be actively supported and encouraged to attain Chartered Engineer status).
- Previous experience within the automotive sector
- “Hands on” practical approach to problem solving;
- Experience with Pro-E CAD systems;
