Job Description
- We are currently recruiting for a Optical Development Engineer.
- This is a unique opportunity to directly contribute to the success of a market-leading specialist in the field of scientific instrumentation for all aspects of Human Health and Environmental Health areas.
- We are looking for a talented and self-motivated Design Engineer to be based within our manufacturing facility in South Wales to build and drive a Research and Development Centre of Excellence for optical products.
- The successful candidate would firstly work in a cross functional role between current R&D facilities and Manufacturing before developing our facility in the fields of Lithography, Thin films, Metrology, Zemax, Matlab, Interferometry, Ellipsometry, Process controls, Process monitoring, Optical depth profiling, Diffraction theory and Image processing.
Skills and Experience: -
- Bachelors Degree in optics, engineering, chemistry or related technical field with proven experience with a process orientated organisation.
- Experience including Optical Component Design, Vacuum Coating, Thermal Set Polymers and Epoxies, Holography, or Nanotechnology
- An understanding and knowledge of Diffraction Grating markets, segments, branding and competitive analysis
- Knowledge of gratings i.e. Grating equations (diffraction angle for given wavelength, groove spacing, diffraction order) and Blaze Angle Meaning
- Experience in Optical Replication and in UV Optics (MgF2 and Si02 over coating)
- Strong capabilities in high technology associated with the core sciences (physics, chemistry and biology).
- Excellent communication skills. Able to communicate complex scientific information to a broad audience (Customers, Manufacturing personnel, R&D, suppliers, management, fellow engineers).
