Vacancy Specifications: Product Design & Development Engineer
Overview:
A Product Design & Development Engineer is required to provide innovative ideas and solutions for product creation and enhancement. He will be a source of technical expertise for product performance and development and have a sound commercial and managerial awareness.
Role
Product Design & Development Engineer
Produce innovative ideas and/or refine ideas suggested internally and externally. To establish a concept that will provide a viable solution to the idea.
To take a concept through Feasibility and Commercial Viability.
Research and Development.
Validating product design and specification through product testing.
Product Technical Files - compilation and maintenance.
Product data for Customer information, Sales and Marketing.
To have a fertile mind that generates ideas that in themselves are seeds for new products and concepts and in turn conceptualise possible solutions to the ideas.
To conceptualise solutions to customer and internal suggestions.
To flesh out the concepts into feasibility and carry out assessments for Commercial Viability.
To carry out research and development by deriving test and validation procedures
To carry out product validation and testing programmes, record and report findings.
To author technical files and ensure products conform to the necessary EU Directives.
To extract relevant information for Product representation to Customers, Sales and Marketing. This will involve creating the medium in conjunction with the Sales and Marketing functions.
A good Engineering Degree - that will cover Mechanical, Product Design, Manufacturing and Management.
You will have at least 5 years experience in a product realisation role with a clear demonstration of creativity and end product fulfilment.
You should be working towards or have already achieved Chartered status. If you are working towards corporate membership documentary evidence of your Monitored Development Program should be available.
